Features and rules of care

Strawberries, or garden strawberries, Polka are unpretentious, and it’s not difficult to care for them. Watering is recommended twice a week. During cultivation, the propagation features of this variety should be taken into account. Adult plants give out a very short mustache, which quickly grows in close proximity to the mother's bushes.

You can feed the berry only two times in the summer, once in the spring and once during the preparation of plants for winter. At the stage of flowering and setting the berries, it is desirable to process the berry bushes with the Ryazanochka tool. Such an event protects well from damage by fungal infections and has a beneficial effect on immunity and overall productivity.

Planting garden strawberries of this variety can be carried out in the period from the last decade of August to October. Very well, the plant reproduces by young, rooted rosettes. When performing autumn planting, plants quickly adapt and early bear fruiting. Soil should be enriched with organic and complex fertilizers. It is recommended that the soil be cultivated before planting against the main pathogenic microflora.

“Polka” has sufficient frost resistance, therefore, it will not be necessary to carry out any special shelter activities for the winter period. True, in the more northern regions it is advisable to mulch the berry, which will allow the plants to survive the winter cold without loss.

Gardeners reviews

Most gardeners speak of Polka strawberries with great warmth. Fans of this culture note very good taste qualities of berries and an increased demand for it as an industrial grade. All berries are very smooth, dark red in color, have a caramel-sweet taste and pronounced aroma. Good transportability allows you to grow berries for further sale.

By most of its qualitative characteristics, the Polka variety has great similarity to the Malinka variety. Berries even at the stage of milk ripeness have a very sweet, fragrant pulp and very tasty. However, at present, one should not expect outstanding results from this variety; therefore, the Polka strawberry is gradually being superseded by younger and more promising varieties.
