Neretinsky grapes are cultivated on the territory of our country very infrequently. Despite the high level of the characteristics declared in the description, the variety did not become popular with Russian winegrowers.

Selection history

The Neretinsky grape was selected by A. I. Potapenko. When conducting breeding work, a parental couple was involved, represented by Tsimlyansky Black grapes and the Vitis Amurenzis variety well known to most winegrowers, which accounted for a significant part of the quality and technical characteristics of the variety obtained. In the works on derivation, the author used a method called variable backross.

Grade characteristics

Bushes of the Neretinsky variety are classified as vigorous and form exclusively functionally female flowers. The plant's resistance to mildew is only 1.5 points, which is a very insufficient indicator in the climatic conditions of our country. Frost resistance is stable and reaches -35 ° C.

Grapes "Neretinsky" compares favorably with similar varieties with excellent ripening of the vine and belongs to the category of moisture-loving. The clusters are relatively medium in size, cylindrical in shape and are characterized by low density. There are specimens with a loose type of bunch. The standard mass of grapes does not exceed 0.2 kg. Each shoot forms about three clusters.

The berries are formed of medium size, rounded in shape and have a purple or dark blue color, with a thick waxy coating and several seeds inside. The taste indicators of grapes are rather mediocre. Sugar content can reach 23%. The acidity does not exceed 6 g / l. Productivity is stable and high. Like most Amur hybrids from the selection of A. I. Potapenko, the Neretinsky grape variety produces up to 70% of juice.

A characteristic feature of tall bushes of this grape variety is a very high level of decorativeness, which is due to the presence of large, slightly corrugated leaves. A certain plus of the variety are good indicators of shoot ripening. The most indicative disadvantages of the variety include the female type of flowering of the vine of this grape, as well as high rates of cracking of berries at the stage of active ripening of the crop.

Features of planting and care

Soils with an average level of fertility are well suited for growing Neretinsky grapes. The landing area should have good sunlight and be protected from strong, gusty winds. The plant easily tolerates a high occurrence of groundwater.

The rooting of grape seedlings is very good. Pruning vines for fruiting should be carried out medium, 4-6 eyes. After severe injuries resulting from severe return frosts, the yield is completely restored in sleeping and reserve buds. Despite the fact that the plant is characterized by stable and fairly high frost resistance, in the first year after planting for the winter period, the young vine should be covered. Adult plants are supported on all winter.

The plant has high resistance to gray rot and oidium. Osami variety is absolutely not damaged or is slightly damaged. Nevertheless, once per season prophylactic spraying with special systemic drugs should be carried out.

Reviews of winegrowers

According to most growers trying to cultivate this variety, very small berries with insufficient pulp and an unpleasant taste are formed on the signal brush.

Most often, the cultivation of grapes of the Neretinsky variety with the Amethystovy variety is practiced: a blend of these varieties allows you to get good and high-quality wines. The resulting drink feels pleasant and refined chocolate shades.

According to the majority of gardeners cultivating Neretinsky grapes, the variety is characterized not only by insufficient growth power, but also by very low yield indicators. A slight minus can be considered a few nightshade taste of berries. Among the advantages are called stable frost resistance and a quick recovery period after freezing. As a rule, bushes show full power in the fourth year after planting.

Grapes "Neretinsky": characteristics of the variety

If you intend to cultivate this grape variety, it should be remembered that any hybrids involving Amur varieties have a certain specificity, which not many wine growers like. The Neretinsky variety has both advantages and disadvantages, and the question of the advisability of growing should be decided on a purely individual basis.
